DUSHANBE, December 24, 2014, Asia-Plus -- The Drug Control Agency (DCA) press center reports that a two-stage operation carried out by officers from the DCA’s office for Sughd province in cooperation with officers from Kyrgyzstan’s counternarcotics agency on Decembwr 23 led to the seizure of a large amount of heroin in the Tajik northern district of Bobojonghafourov.
A 21-year-old local resident was arrested on suspicion of drug pushing and a package of narcotic drug that tested positive to heroin weighing nearly one kilogram was confiscated from him.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained drug peddler under the provisions of Article 200 (3) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – drug trafficking; an investigation is under way.
