DUSHANBE, March 11, 2015, Asia-Plus – Two trespassers have reportedly been detained with a large amount of heroin and raw opium in Khatlon province.
“Border guards have warded off an attempt by a group of armed drug traffickers to smuggle a large amount of drugs into Khatlon’s Farkhor district,” Mohammad Ulughkhojayev, a spokesman for the Main Border Guard Directorate at the State Committee for National Security (SCNS), told Asia-Plus in an interview.
According to him, border guards on a routine patrol spotted a group of armed people who were illegally crossing the border river in the Farkhor district late on March 7.
As a result of exchange of gunfire, two trespassers were detained and 19.40 kilograms of heroin and 75 kilograms of raw opium were found on the spot, Ulughkhojayev said.
