DUSHANBE, March 29, 215, Asia-Plus /Asia-Plus/ -- Russia is expected to help evacuate some 100 Tajik medical workers and their families from Yemen as a Saudi-led coalition launched military operation there.
Mohammad Egamzod, a spokesman for the Tajik Embassy in Moscow, says Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has ordered Tajik diplomatic missions to take every effort to evacuate Tajik medical workers and their families from Yemen.
“Tajik Embassy in Moscow has set up a special commission, led by the consular department head Ashraf Gulov,” said Egamzod. “The commission has conducted negotiations with relevant Russia agencies and Russia has expressed readiness to consider Tajikistan’s request for helping evacuating our nationals from Yemen positively.”
According to him, a relevant note and the list of Tajik nationals working in Yemen have already been sent to the Russian MFA and they reportedly expressed readiness to provide every assistance in resolving that issue.
“Tajik Ambassador to Russia Imomuddin Sattorov is expected to discuss this issue with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow on March 30 on the sidelines of Russian foreign minister’s meeting with ambassadors of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member nations and their permanent representatives,” Egamzod said.
We will recall that Tajik MFA said on March 27 that Tajik Embassy in Qatar is trying to relocate Tajik nationals in Yemen to safer areas before returning them home with the help of Russian authorities and companies.
The ministry said Tajik doctors and nurses working in Yemen went there under contracts obtained through three Russian medical companies.
