DUSHANBE, April 8, 2015, Asia-Plus -- Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament ratified a government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and Iran on cooperation for law and order and strengthening security on April 8.

Presenting the document, Deputy Interior Minister, Ikrom Umarzoda, noted that the agreement aims at, first of all, expanding cooperation between relevant agencies of the two countries in combating organized, terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking.

The document also provides for expansion of cooperation between the two countries’ interior ministries in preventing human trafficking, cyber crimes and trafficking in weapons and ammunition, Umarzoda noted.         

We will recall that the government-to-government agreement between Tajikistan and Iran on cooperation for law and order and strengthening security was signed in Dushanbe on September 10, 2014 in the presence Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani.
