DUSHANBE, April 15, 2015, Asia-Plus – Tajik citizen, 49, has been detained at the Tolmachyovo Airport in the Russian city of Novosibirsk for drug trafficking, Siberian Customs Directorate (STU) reported on April 14.
He was reportedly caught during inspection of passengers on the Dushanbe-Novosibirsk flight.
The drug peddler was traveling to Novosibirsk with drugs in his stomach. He reportedly ingested 147 wraps of narcotic drugs that tested positive to heroin weighing 572 grams and hashish weighing 4.7 grams.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained drug courier under the provisions of Article 229 (1) of Russia’s Penal Code – drug trafficking; an investigation is under way. If convicted the man could face up to 20 years in jail.
