DUSHANBE, June 29, 2015, Asia-Plus – A 62-year-resident of Qurghon Teppa, the capital of Khatlon province, has been detained in Dushanbe on suspicion of drug peddling.
The Interior Ministry’s website reports he was detained in Dushanbe on June 27 and 8.353 kilograms of raw opium and 490 grams of heroin were confiscated from him.
On the same day, a resident of Khatlon’s Panj district, which borders Afghanistan, was detained on suspicion of drug trafficking. A package d narcotic drug that tested positive to hashish weighing nearly one kilogram was confiscated from him.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against both alleged drug peddlers and an investigation is under way.
