DUSHANBE, July 3, 2015, Asia-Plus – Large-scale exercises for reservists are being conducted at the training grounds in Khatlon province, according to the Ministry of Defense (MoD).
An official source at a MoD says the exercises are being conducted in connection with deterioration of political and military situations in Afghan areas bordering Tajikistan.
Organized by the military registration and enlistment offices under support of local authorities, the exercises reportedly involve more than 5,000 reserve officers and 20,000 reserve soldiers.
We will recall that on March 11-14, the MoD conducted large-scale exercises along the Afghan border in Khatlon that involved more than 30,000 people, including soldiers, reservists, local police, and civilian support services.
