DUSHANBE, July 24, 2015, Asia-Plus -- Drug control officers reportedly seized more than 25 kilograms of narcotics in two separate operations carried out on July 23.
According to the drug Control Agency (DCA) press center, an operation carried out last Thursday in Sughd’s Shahriston district led to the seizure of a large amount of heroin. Seven packages of narcotic drug that tested positive to heroin weighing 7.116 kilograms were found hidden in Toyota Prado belonging to a 53-year-old resident of Dushanbe.
On the same day, a 39year-old resident of Dushanbe was arrested on outskirts of the Tajik capital on suspicion of drug trafficking.
Fifteen packages of narcotic drug that tested positive to hashish weighing more than 18 kilograms were confiscated from him.
A total weight of the confiscated narcotics is 25.246 kilgorams.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against both alleged drug peddlers and an investigation is under way, the source said.
