DUSHANBE, July 24, 2015, Asia-Plus – Tajik authorities say two merchants running shops at Dushanbe’s Korvon market have been arrested on suspicion of planning terror attacks in Dushanbe, Kulob, Rasht and Fayzobod.
Tajik national TV channels reported yesterday evening that police and the security services have prevented several possible terror attacks planned by supporters of the Islamic State (IS) militant group.
According to the Interior Ministry, they were going to commit terror attacks during the last ten days of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
Two alleged terrorists – Bobojon Rajabov from the city of Kulob and Sadrididn Jabborov from the Roudaki district – have been arrested. They were reportedly going to blow up twelve police stations in Kulob, Dushanbe, Fayzobod and Rasht.
A large number of oxygen cylinders and other substances necessary to conduct explosions were reportedly confiscated from them.
The Interior Ministry notes that people using nicknames “Roudaki,” “Muhammad Roudaki,” and “Fayzobod” have provided assistance to the alleged terrorists.
