Dushanbe. 8 September. “Asia Plus” -- Tajik Prosecutor General''s Office has initiated criminal proceedings against General Abduhalim Nazarzoda and Colonel Umarov Dzhunaydullo on four articles of the Criminal Code, including "High Treason", reports Radio Ozodi.
Against the dismissed Deputy Minister of Defense of Tajikistan, General Abduhalim Nazarzoda (Khoji Halim) and Colonel Umarov Dzhunaydullo were prosecuted under articles 305 (treason), 307 Part 2 (organization of an extremist community), 309 (Sabotage) and 179 (Terrorism) of the Criminal Code .
On September 8, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan confirmed that the Ministry of Defense, Colonel Umarov Dzhunaydullo and Abduhalim Nazarzoda are involved in the attack on September 4 on DMIA in Vahdat and now they are hiding in Ramit Gorge.
The name of the Defense Ministry colonel appeared in the media immediately after the armed attack in Dushanbe and Vahdat, as one of the participants in these attacks. It was reported that he was dismissed from the Ministry of Defense a few days before these events, and thus he avenged his dismissal. But later, the representatives of the Defense Ministry called these reports inaccurate, noting that he was not fired, but more likely, he could become a hostage of the group. Now, the representatives of the General Prosecutor''s Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan say that he was also among the organizers of the event on September 4 with Nazarzoda.
There is not enough information about the Colonel Dzhunaydullo Umarov and his activities. People speak about him as a former field commander of the United Tajik Oppositions (UTO), which has been integrated into the Ministry of Defense of Tajikistan after the signing of the Agreement on Peace and National Accord in 1997.
He was born in Rudaki district and one time worked as commandant of Dushanbe city.
