DUSHANBE, November 2, 2015, Asia-Plus -- The Ministry of Defense has announced that it is launching large-scale exercises in Dushanbe and districts subordinate to the center (RRP) today.
The exercises that will run through November 5 are reportedly involving more than 40,000 people, including soldiers, reservists, local police, and civilian support services. Defense Minister, Lieutenant-General Sherali Mirzo, is in overall command of the exercises.
The purpose of the exercises is to rehearse organization of the territorial defense, mobilization of reservists, and interaction in anti-terror missions.
Meanwhile, a two-day training for heads of cities and districts of Khatlon province concluded on November 1. “Chiefs of the military registration and enlistment offices and police departments of the province participated in the training as well,” Faridoun Mahmadaliyev, a spokesman for the Ministry of Defense (MoD), told Asia-Plus in an interview.
