DUSHANBE, November 9, 2015, Asia-Plus – The United Sates has donated five all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) worth one million U.S. dollars to the peacekeeping battalion of the Tajik Ministry of Defense (MoD).
“United States Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Leslie Hayden and Commander of the Tajik Mobile Troops Mirali Rahmatzoda participated in a donation ceremony that took place in Dushanbe on November 6,” Faridoun Mahmadaliyev, a spokesman for a MoD, told Asia-Plus in an interview.
Speaking at the donation ceremony, Major-General Rahmatzoda reportedly noted that the United States has provided about 6.5 million U.S. dollars since 2009 for equipping the Tajik peacekeeping battalion.
Representatives of the U.S Embassy in Dushanbe also participated in a construction commencement ceremony for a modern training ground for the Tajik peacekeeping battalion, Mahmadaliyev said.
