DUSHANBE, December 30, 2015, Asia-Plus - Commander of Tajik border troops, Lieutenant-General Rajabali Rahmonali, has handed Sharaf Order (the Order of Glory) 1st degree to the father of Captain Azamat Azimov, who was killed in Tajik-Kyrgyz border shooting incident in August last year.
An official source at the Main Border Guard Directorate under the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) says keys for a two-room apartment in Dushanbe have also been handed to the officer’s father.
Captain Azimov was killed in the Tajik-Kyrgyz border shooting incident that took place in the Tajik district of Bobojonghafourov on August 25, 2014.
Kyrgyz border guards reportedly fired at a group of Tajik villagers protesting Kyrgyz plans to build a highway and a bridge in a disputed area, wounding four of them.
The border shooting left two Tajiks dead, including Captain Azamat Azimov and the 25-year-old resident of the Ovchi Qalacha village Numonjon Nabiyev, and five injured.
Captain Azamat Azimov was the nephew of ex-commander of Tajik border troops, Lieutenant-General Abdurahmon Azimov.
