DUSHANBE, February 3, 2016, Asia-Plus – Tajik Defense Minister Sherali Mirzo today met here with visiting Russian Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov.
Faridoun Mahmadaliyev, a spokesman for the Ministry of Defense of Tajikistan, says the two discussed issues related to state and prospects of bilateral military and technical cooperation between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation.
According to him, a special attention was paid to modernization of Tajikistan’s armed forces that is being carried out under Russia’s support.
Mirzo and Antonov reportedly also discussed issues of combating terrorism and extremism as well as addressing modern challenges.
Russian deputy defense minister also visited headquarters of the Russian military base in Tajikistan today.
Antonov, who arrived in Dushanbe on February 2, will leave the Tajik capital for Moscow today evening.
