DUSHANBE, February 10, 2016, Asia-Plus -- President Emomali Rahmon convened on February 10 a meeting in Dushanbe of senior police and security officials to discuss efforts to combat organized crime, terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking, according to the Tajik president’s official website.
Speaking at the meeting, President Rahmon drew attention of the senior security officials to the alarm situation in the region and in the world as a whole, and pointed to the necessity of strengthening the border control, raising combat readiness of the country’s armed forces, and toughening the fight against terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking.
A special attention was reportedly paid to the problems of training military personnel, conducting military drills, raising professionalism of the commanding officers, and enhancing logistics support of military units.
The meeting participants also discussed issues related to preventing youth from joining radical Islamist groups, the source said.
