DUSHANBE, February 26, 2016, Asia-Plus – Khumairo Mirova, who is the second wife of the former commander of Tajik special police unit (OMON) Gulmurod Halimov who joined the extremist Islamic State (IS) group in Syria, together with four children left for Syria, where she joined the IS militant group, a source at Tajik law enforcement authorities was quoted as saying by Radio Liberty’s Tajik Service on February 26.
Until 2015, Mirova reportedly worked with the press center of the Customs Service under the Government of Tajikistan. She had a military rank of Captain.
Khumairo Mirova is the second wife of Gulmurod Halimov and she reportedly has four children from him.
We will recall that Colonel Gulmurod Halimov joined the IS extremist group in May last year. Halimov confirmed in a YouTube that he joined the militant group.
Interior Minister Ramazon Rahimzoda told reporters in Dushanbe on January 25 that Halimov has been seriously wounded twice.
The minister claimed IS was now paying Halimov $100 a month as a “pension.” That claim cannot be independently confirmed.
The interior minister said Tajik authorities were continuing efforts to capture Halimov.
