DUSHANBE, April 15, 2016, Asia-Plus – The first meeting of a joint board of the interior ministries of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan is being held in the Tajik northern province of Sughd.
The Tajik Interior Ministry’s website reports a two-day meeting of the Tajik and Kyrgyz interior ministries’ board kicked off in the Tajik northern city of Guliston (formerly Qairoqqum), today.
The board is reportedly discussing issues related to expansion of cooperation between the law enforcement authorities of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan in combating extremism, terrorism and organized crime, as well as exchange of experience of police reform.
Kyrgyz Interior Minister Melis Turganbayev heading Kyrgyz interior ministry’s delegation arrived in Guliston yesterday.
On the same day, he held talks with his Tajik counterpart Ramazon Rahimzoda.
The two reportedly exchanged views on further expansion of bilateral cooperation between their countries in combating organized and transnational crime.
