DUSHANBE, April 28, 2016, Asia-Plus -- On Thursday, April 28, the U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe conducted a security exercise in coordination with the Emergency Response Group of the Ministry of Interior Special Police Squad (OMON).
According to the U.S. Embassy, the exercise was the culmination of a three week training event sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Antiterrorism Assistance program to increase the reactionary capabilities of OMON personnel in emergency situations.
Their training included instruction on land navigation, close quarters combat, vehicle maneuvers, and hostage rescue.
This is one in a series of planned training exercises that the U.S. Embassy will conduct in partnership with OMON.
We will recall that twenty communications officers representing OMON and Drug Control Agency on April 22 completed a two-month long communication class provided by the United States Central Command’s Counter-Narcotics Program Office.
The course reportedly increased the capacity of the participating organizations to send and receive data through recently procured radios provided by the counter-narcotics program. The communication officers received instruction on the proper use of various antenna configurations for ensuring best transmissions, secure stand-alone network training, programming instruction, and courses covering radio maintenance and installation. Additional topics related to the radio frequency spectrum, radio wave propagation, communications planning and reporting, as well as a practical exercise in creating antennas to work in different environments and altitudes.
