DUSHANBE, May 3, 2016, Asia-Plus – About 60 persons have been detained in the raid on a clandestine Salafist prayer house in the Russian city of Samara.
A homemade explosive device and subversive literature were found in the house, a spokesman for Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) was quoted as saying by Tass news agency.
The Salafi movement or Salafist movement is an ultra-conservative orthodox movement within Sunni Islam that references the doctrine known as Salafism.
Salafists do not recognize other branches of Islam, such as Shi''a and Sufism. The movement is frequently referred to as Wahhabism, although Salafists reject this as derogatory.
