DUSHANBE, May 12, 2016, Asia-Plus – Tajik police have seized more than 70 kilograms of hashish in two separate operations carried out in Khatlon and Sughd provinces.
According to the Interior Ministry’s website, a 37-year-old resident of the Panj district in Khatlon province was detained yesterday on suspicion of drug pushing. 50.6 kilograms of hashish were found hidden in the wheat filed near his house.
On the same day, a 40-year-old resident of the Zafarobod district (Sughd) was detained by police in Khujand, the capital of Sughd province. Several packages of narcotic drug that tested positive to hashish weighing more than 20 kilograms were confiscated from him.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the alleged drug peddlers and an investigation is under way.
