DUSHANBE, July 4, 2016, Asia-Plus – A joint operation by Tajik border guards and Khatlon police officers has led to the seizure of a large amount of hashish
“A joint operation carried out by Tajik border guards and officers of the Interior Ministry’s office in Khatlon in the Shohin (formerly Shouroobod) district at the end of last week led to the seizure of more than 7 kilograms of hashish,” Mohammad Ulughzoda, a spokesman for the Tajik Border Troops, told Asia-Plus in an interview.
“As a result of exchange of gunfire the trespassers were forced to return to the Afghan territory and several packages of narcotic drug that tested positive to hashish weighing more than seven kilograms were found on the spot,” Ulughzoda said.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted and an investigation is under way, the spokesman added.
