DUSHANBE, August 8, 2016, Asia-Plus – Tajik national suspected of having ties with the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group has been denied entry at Lvov airport in Ukraine. 

Ukraine’s border service reports that one of passengers on the flight Istanbul-Lvov, who is Tajik national, has been denied entry to Ukraine.  He is allegedly member of IS and wanted by the Tajik authorities and he has been returned to Istanbul, the city he arrived from on August 5, Ukraine’s border service said.

Meanwhile two other Tajik nationals were detained by Ukrainian border service at the Kharkov airport in late June on suspicion of being members of IS terrorist group.

Ukrainskaya Pravda reports the detained Tajik nationals have been internationally wanted on charges of membership in the Islamic State terrorist group.  According to the Ukrainian newspaper, they had taken training at the IS camps and participated in fighting in Syria.

Radio Liberty’s Tajik Service , locally known as Ozodi, reports that the Tajik authorities have applied to Interpol for assistance in detaining dozens of Tajik nationals being members of various terrorist groups, including IS.    

According to official data, more than 1,000 Tajik officials have joined the IS terrorist group and at least 150 Tajik nationals had been killed in fighting in Iraq and Syria.
