IRNA reports that a spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned the terrorist attack on Tajikistan’s Khatlon province, which resulted in the death of Chinese citizens working in the country.

In a message released on November 28, Ismaeil Baghaei condemned the terrorist attack in the Shamsiddin-Shohin district of Khatlon province, Tajikistan, which led to the killing of three Chinese citizens employed there.

The spokesperson emphasized the principled stance of the Islamic Republic of Iran in firmly condemning all forms and manifestations of terrorism and stressed the necessity of strengthening multilateral cooperation to prevent and counter terrorism.

As it had been reported earlier, Three Chinese citizens working for a private gold-mining company, Shohin SM, were killed in an armed attack from Afghanistan into Tajikistan on the night of November 26, 2025.

Tajikistan’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement on November 27 that the assault targeted a compound belonging to Shohin SM operating in the Shamsiddin Shohin district along the Tajik–Afghan frontier.

According to Tajikistan’s MFA, the attackers used firearms and a drone equipped with an explosive device to strike the workers’ facility.

Tajikistan and Afghanistan's Taliban have engaged in a flurry of diplomacy in recent months to ease tensions and prevent armed clashes along their long, shared border.

Since the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan in 2021, Dushanbe and Kabul have accused each other of harboring armed groups.
