QURGHON TEPPA, June 22, 2011, Asia-Plus -- The central mosque in Qurghon Teppa (the capital of Khatlon province) has announced opening of short-term Islamic courses for children of age 7 and above.
“Children will have an opportunity to study Islam at madrasah under the mosque during summer holidays instead of loafing their time away,” said the source. “Children are accepted only with consent from their parents.”
According to him, the Qurghon Teppa central mosque has decided to organize such courses in order to stem illegal religious education in the area.
Over the past several months the Qurghon Teppa city court has imposed administrative action upon four local residents for illegally teaching children Islam.
