DUSHANBE, September 14, 2011, Asia-Plus -- The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC) is developing new projects aimed at enhancing medical care and water sanitation in Tajikistan.
Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament), says that issue was discussed at a meeting of Amirsho Miraliyev, First Deputy Speaker of the Majlisi Namoyandagon, with Dr. Massimo Barra, Chairman of the Standing Commission of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, that took place here today.
In the course of the talks, Dr. Barra reportedly noted that IFRC was ready to continue providing humanitarian aid to Tajikistan on mitigation of effects of disasters.
Miraliyev, for his part, noted that Tajikistan was ready to expand cooperation with that authoritative international organization. He also appreciated IFRC’s support provided to Tajikistan during the civil war and for mitigating disaster effects, the spokesman said.
