DUSHANBE, October 10, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Tajik customs officers have destroyed a large amount of spoiled kiwi-fruit in Dushanbe.
According to the Customs Service under the Government of Tajikistan, at the end of last week customs officers seized 21.5 tons of expired and rotten kiwi-fruit that was delivered to the country by Iranian private entrepreneur. “Examination has shown that the driver of a delivery truck failed to provide right storage of this exotic fruit,” the source said.
The spoiled kiwi-fruit was reportedly destroyed in the presence of appropriate bodies on the outskirts of Dushanbe on Saturday.
The source in the Customs Service says that every year, Tajikistan imports a large number of tropical fruits, primarily from Iran, the Arab united Emirates (UAE) and Ecuador.
