DUSHANBE, November 24, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Tajikistan marks its National Flag Day on November 24.
As part of festivities, a 35-kilometer cycle marathon is being held in Dushanbe today, Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor’s office said.
Besides, special lesson dedicated to Tajikistan’s National Flag Day are taking part in all educational institutions of the city. Book exhibitions and scientific-practical conferences are being organized as well.
The main festive event involving more than 10,000 people is taking part in the center of Dushanbe, near the flagpole hoisting Tajik national flag.
We will recall that President Emomali Rahmon signed a law establishing National Flag Day in November 2009, making Tajikistan the second country in Central Asia after Turkmenistan with such a holiday. Tajikistan celebrated National Flag Day for the first time on November 24, 2009.
Tajikistan was the last of the former Soviet republics to reveal a new flag, which was adopted on November 24, 1992.
