KHUJAND, February 9, 2012, Asia-Plus -- FM radio, Sadoi Khujand (Voice of Khujand), has gone on the air in the northern Sughd province.
Salimjon Kamolov, the director of the TV and Radio Company “Sadoi Khujand,” says the radio station is currently broadcasting in a test regime.
Fifteen or twenty journalists are expected to work for the radio that will officially go on the air on March 1 this year. “The radio station will run new bulletins in Tajik and Russian alternately as well as broadcast interactive programs and play music,” Kamolov said.
Sadoi Khujand will air 20 hours per day and it can be picked up by residents of the cities of Khujand and Chkalovsk and the districts of Konibodom, Bobojonghafurov, Jabborrasoulov and Spitamen. “In the future, we plan to extend the coverage area to Istaravshan, Mastchoh, Isfara, Panjakent and Zafarobod,” the radio director added.
According to reliable sources, one more FM radio is expected to go on the air in the city of Khujand next month.
