DUSHANBE, March 29, 2012, Asia-Plus  -- State and prospects of further expansion of cooperation between Tajikistan’s Migration Service and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) were discussed on March 28 at a meeting of Safiallo Devonayev, Head of Tajikistan’s Migrations Service with Mr. Lacy Swing, Director General of IOM and Mr. Zeynal Hajiyev, Chief of IOM Mission in Tajikistan, the Migration Service press center reports.

Devonayev reportedly informed Swing and Hajiyev of activities of Tajik migration service agency and the main directions of its work.

The Migration Service work’s priorities include regulation of migration processes in Tajikistan, protection of interests of labor migrants, training of potential migrants.

In the course of the talks, Devonayev drew attention of IOM director general to the necessity of establishment of vocational training centers.  He also stressed that IOM could promote establishment of permanent dialogue with countries needing foreign labor resources, the source said.

Mr. Hajiyev, for his part, noted that further plans and priorities of the IOM Mission in Tajikistan would be presented in May.

The meeting reportedly resulted in signing of a memorandum of cooperation between Tajikistan’s Migration Service and the IOM Mission in Tajikistan.
