KULOB, July 12, 2012, Asia-Plus -- Over the first six months of this year, more than 37 million U.S. dollars have been remitted to six banks in the Kulob region of Khatlon province, Safarali Saidov, head of the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT)’s branch in Kulob, announced at a news conference in Kulob on July 12.
Over the report period, 202,509 people have remitted 1.3 billion Russian rubles (RR) and 72 people have remitted 26,400 euros to local banks.
According to Saidov, more than half of the aforementioned money has been remitted to Agroinvestbonk’s branches in the region.
Meanwhile, 9,555,900 somoni of dilapidated banknotes have reportedly been immobilized in Khatlon’s Kulob zone over the first six months of this year.
