DUSHANBE, August 30, 2012, Asia-Plus -- The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has hosted workshops for managers in the elimination of health risks and prevention of industrial accidents and occupational diseases including HIV and AIDS.
IOM Mission to Tajikistan in the framework of the project “Improving Migrant Workers Access to Health Services in Tajikistan” funded by the IOM Development Fund on August initiated a two-day workshop in collaboration with the Tajik Ministry of Health and Migration Service with the technical support of International Labor Organization (ILO).
The workshop was designed to build knowledge of employers who recruit Tajik and foreign citizens on safety and health in the workplace. The workshop was conducted on the premises of the Regional Coordination Training Center on Migration and HIV on August 23-24, 2012.
The main goal of the workshop was to raise employers’ awareness migrants’ right to health services, on a new occupational safety and health management system (ILO-OSH), including the prevention of the infectious diseases such as HIV and TB in the workplace in Tajikistan. The event was attended by representatives from various foreign and private companies, including specialists from the Ministry of Health, Migration Service, State Service for Supervision of Labor under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, Employers Association of RT, Trade Union and HIV service community organization.
