DUSHANBE November 19, 2012, Asia-Plus -- According to data of the Agency fro Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, the number of unemployed officially registered with the employment service agency of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan as of October 1, 2012 was 55,000 people in Tajikistan, of whom 52.2 percent (28,700) are women.
The level of unemployment (the ratio between those officially deemed to be unemployed and the economically active population) was 2.5 percent. As of October 1, 2012, the number of economically active population was 2.2 million.
Over the report period, 12,00 persons have been sent to forced vacations; of them, 11,000 persons have been sent to forced vacations without keeping their salaries. Besides, 700 persons have worked in the regime of shorter day or shorter week.
Thus, the level of employment with regard to the latent unemployment as of October 1, 2012 was 3.1 percent.
