DUSHANBE, January 11, 2013, Asia-Plus -- On Thursday January 10, Saidghufron Abdullo, the deputy head of the Migration Service under the Government of Tajikistan, received Mr. Erik R. Jacobs, the Second Secretary of Political and Economic Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe.
According to the migration service agency press center, Abdullo briefed Jacobs on the agency’s activities and noted that to-date, Tajikistan has signed migration agreements with the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Belarus and work on signing similar agreements with Ukraine, South Korea and Qatar is under way.
The sides reportedly noted that 1,573 Tajiks have taken U.S. citizenship over the years of independence and 49 U.S. nationals are currently working in Tajikistan.
They also considered the issues related to the study of English language and organization of vocational training courses for potential labor migrants, the press center said.
