KHUJAND, February 15, 2013, Asia-Plus -- A 10-yer-old boy from the Chorbogh jamoat in the Istaravshan district, Sughd province has committed suicide by self-hanging.
According to the Interior Ministry’s office in Sughd province, the fourth grade student U.B., 10, was found hanging in a cattleshed Thursday (February 14) evening.
No signs of a violent death were found on his body, the source said.
Local prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation into the incident.
Meanwhile, Sughd Province police chief, Colonel Sharif Nazarov, today met with activists and leaders of local communities in the Istaravshan district to discuss joint efforts to prevent suicide cases and keep local youth from joining extremist groups, the source added.
It is to be noted that suicides are continuing to show an upward trend in the northern Sughd province and local authorities set up a special group to try to stem an increase in the number of suicides in the area.
