DUSHANBE, April 5, 2013, Asia-Plus -- Representatives of public associations and international organizations active in Tajikistan have called on President Emomali Rahmon to pay attention to the children missing cases.

Representatives of public associations and international organizations active in the country are currently collecting signatures to the appeal to President Emomali Rahmon in connection with missing children cases.

They call on the president to take the missing children cases under his persona control.

“In March alone, dozens of children went missing.  According to information posted on the Interior Ministry official website, more than ten underage teens from various regions of the country were reported missing in the second half of March alone.  Among them are Muqaddas Aladdinova (1998) from Sughd’s Bobojonghafurov district, Sayora Tumanova (1996) from Khatlon’s Temourmalik district, Zulfiya Ibrohimova (1996) from Dushanbe’s Firdavsi district, Ruhiya Saydaliyeva (1995) from Dushanbe’s Sino district, Malohat Gadoyeva (1998) from Dushanbe’s Fridavsi district, Mizhgona Mahmadova (1999) from Dushanbe’s Sino district, etc.  Unfortunately, search operations for them have yielded no results.”

According to them, disappearance of Dushanbe cousins Sabina Aralova and Malika Aralova has shown that there are many people in the country who are not indifferent to pain of others and voluntarily assisting parents of missing girls.

“This case, however, also showed that Tajik law enforcement authorities do not have precise mechanisms of cooperation with volunteers providing assistance to relatives of missing persons and investigation.”  

Representatives of public associations also ask the president to draw attention of the law enforcement authorities to the necessity of developing the mechanism of cooperation with institutions of civil society and volunteers in search for missing persons.
