DUSHANBE, May 13, 2013, Asia-Plus – An extraordinary meeting of the Coordinating Council of Business Associations and Public Associations (CCBAPAT) of Tajikistan took place in Dushanbe on May 13 to consider the issue of abolishing the Council as a group of members of the Council have expressed no-confidence to its head Zayd Saidov.

The Council was abolished by the majority of votes.

The meeting participants, in particular, noted that Zayd Saidov and some other leaders of the Council had used it for their own benefits and for achieving their political goals.

Speaking at the meeting, Nekruy Zabirov, the head of the Union of Entrepreneurs of Tajikistan noted that 31 of 50 members of the CCBAPAT signed a statement for holding the extraordinary meeting of the Council.

The Coordinating Council of Business Associations and Public Associations of Tajikistan was established in 2007 in order to support the business associations and improve the private sector in the country and Zayd Saidov was elected to head CCBAPAT last summer.

Zayd Saidov, 55, graduated from the Faculty of Economics at Tajik National University in 1983.  In 1993-1999, he was director-general of the Moscow-based Joint-Stock Company (JSC) Khalif.  From 199 to 2006, Zayd Saidov served as Minister of Industry of Tajikistan.  From 2007 up to now, Zayd Saidov is Chairman of the Association of Entrepreneurs and Producers of Tajikistan.
