DUSHANBE, May 28, 2013, Asia-Plus – More than 30 persons, including scientists, journalists, lawyers and entrepreneurs have reportedly joined the Coalition for Democracy and Civil Society (CDCS) over the past several days.
Among them are historian Kamol Abdulloyev, head of the virtual cultural society “Turan” Umed Jaihoni, economist and political observer Ali Mastov, journalist Marat Mamadshoyev, director of the charitable organization “Dasti Yori” Kamil Areshov, the National Political Agency (Russia) program coordinator for Tajikistan Bakhtiyor Sattori and some other activists.
One of members of the Coalition Board says they have reportedly stated their intention to join the Coalition through the face book social network.
We will recall that the Coalition for Democracy and Civil Society was established in Tajikistan on May 25. A statement released by the Coalition notes that establishment of the Coalition is conditioned by the fact that “Tajik democracy and civil society are in danger.” The Coalition is reportedly open to all public associations and other institutions of civil society as well as individual citizens.
The Coalition Board members include Mr. Rahmatillo Zoirov, the leader of the Social-Democratic Party of Tajikistan (SDPT), Mr. Mahmadali Hayit, the deputy head of the Islamic Revival Party (IRP), Mr. Mahmoudjon Qosimov, representative of the Initiative Group for formation of the New Tajikistan party, Mr. Abdughani Mahmadazimov, Head of the Association of Political Scientists of Tajikistan, Mr. Shodavlat Shonusayriyev, the member of the SDPT Political Council, Mr. Nouriddin Qarshiboyev, the head of the National Association of Independent Media of Tajikistan (Nansmit), Ms. Ramziya Mirzobekova, a journalist, Mr. Odina Rizoyev, the father of prison inmate Mahmurod Rizoyev, and Qirgizbek Qonunov, as representative of the youth.
