DUSHANBE, June 17, 2013, Asia-Plus -- According to the Tajik migration service agency, nonpayment of wages remains one of the most serious problems facing Tajik labor migrants working in the Russian Federation.
“Over the first quarter of this year alone, 67 Tajik labor migrants have applied to the Tajik migration service agency’s offices in Russia over nonpayment of wages to them by dishonest employers,” Ibrohim Ahmadov, a spokesman for the Tajik migration service agency, told Asia-Plus in an interview.
According to him, Russian employers have reimbursed more than 2 million Russian rubles to Tajik labor migrants over the report period due to interference of the Tajik migration service agency’s office in Moscow.
“In 2012, Russian employers repaid more than 15 million Russian rubles in wage debts to Tajik labor migrants,” Ahmadov added.
