KHUJAND, June 25, 2013, Asia-Plus -- Seven suicide cases have been reported in Sughd province over the past week alone.
The Interior Ministry’s office for Sughd says that in four cases, women, aged 24 to 56, have committed suicide by hanging. “Only one of them have been saved,” the source said.
Over the first five months of this year, 122 suicide cases have been registered in northern Tajikistan. Men, including ten minors, have committed suicide in 63 cases and women, including four minors, have committed suicide in 59 cases.
It is to be noted that the authorities in northern Tajikistan set up a special group to try to stem an increase in the number of suicides in the area.
