DUSHANBE, July 9, 2013, Asia-Plus -- This year, Tajikistan will not send students to study in Egypt because of unstable political situation in there.

The Minister of Education Nouriddin Saidov remarked this at a news conference in Dushanbe on July 8.

Usually, 12 Tajik students were sent to Egypt to study three disciplines, including regional studies, linguistics and international relations, the minister noted.

“Last year, 1,269 Tajik students were sent to study abroad,” said Saidov.  “It is still unknown how many Tajik students will be sent to study abroad this year.  To-date, the ministry has decided on quotas for 30 students to study in Belarus and for 20 students to study in Ukraine.”

Besides, the Russian Federation has allotted 800 seats in its 16 universities to Tajik entrants.  China has reportedly allotted 135 seats to Tajik students and Iran has provided 250 seats for Tajik students for education in Iranian universities.
