KHUJAND, July 12, 2013, Asia-Plus -- Two residents of the northern province of Sughd have been fined 4,000 somoni each for prohibiting their children from attending school.
According to the Sughd education department, two criminal proceedings have been instituted this year against K.Sh. from Khujand and E.B. from the Zafarobod district under the provisions of Article 164 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – preventing obtaining of general compulsory education.
They have been fined 4,000 somoni each, the source said.
