DUSHANBE, September 7, 2014, Asia-Plus -- Funded by the European Union, the project, Technical Assistance to Support the Strengthening of the Health Information System in Tajikistan , supports the Ministry of Health and Social Protection (MoHSPP) in training of 320 medical doctors in using the 10th revision of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD-10) to code the diseases and causes of death.
According to the Delegation of the European Union to Tajikistan, the training started on August 19, 2014 and it is currently being conducted in all regions by the specialists from the Republican Center for Health Statistics and Information.
The project focuses on strengthening the health management information systems of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, Ministry of Justice, Civil Registration Office and Agency of Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan. The project will facilitate collection of information on population health for analysis and decision making purposes in a timely manner.
The DHIS2 information system has been adjusted, configured and installed on the central servers. The necessary equipment was distributed and installed in health care facilities and Civil Registration Offices in all 65 districts and cities of Tajikistan. By now, 50 districts and cities are connected to the central server and the data entry started in online regime in Dushanbe and DRS; around 400 specialists from the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and Ministry of Justice have been trained in DHIS2 and statistics.
The project, Technical Assistance to Support the Strengthening of the Health Information System , funded by the European Union, with a budget of EUR 3.4 million, focuses on the roll-out of a country-wide on-line electronic reporting system and it will last till May 2016. The project is implemented by EPOS Health Management (Germany) in consortium with ICON-Institute Public Sector (Germany), Oslo University (Norway) and IrfatC (Tajikistan).
