KHUJAND, October 13, 2014, Asia-Plus -- The Sughd agriculture directorate held a meeting on October 13 to review the results of the past nine months’ work.
Over the first nine months of this year, Sughd province has reportedly produced 121,658 tons of vegetable.
Besides, Sughd farmers have produced 29,652 tons of grapes over the same nine-month period, which is 88.5 percent of this year’s target.
As of October 1, 2014 there were 572,200 of head of cattle on all categories of farms in the province, or 1.9 percent more than on that date of the preceding year.
The total number of goats and sheep in the province has increased by 1.2 percent (by 15,900 of head of goats and sheep) and the total number of poultry has increased by 7.3 percent (by 103,900).
Over the same nine-month-period, local farming units have reportedly stockpiled 247,700 tons of fodder, including 104,000 tons of hay, 10,300 tons of lucerne, 133,400 tons of straw, and 18,900 tons of succulent feed.
