Dushanbe. 3 September. “Asia Plus” -- In Khujand, in the frames of the International Day of the Disappeared on September 2, was hosted an event of the families missing their relatives in order to honor their memory and to recognize the grief to their families. This event, organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), was held in Tajikistan for the first time.
The ICRC representative in Tajikistan noted that "over the past decade, hundreds of people have been missed as a result of the Civil War in Tajikistan, as well as a result of migration. Mothers and fathers, wives and husbands, sons and daughters of these people still do not know what happened to their loved ones".
"They don`t know whether their relatives are alive or not, the family live in a state of uncertainty. They are searching, waiting and waiting again, often for years, they hope and lose hope, being unable to stop their grief,"- said Samir Hadzimustafik, who has headed the program, carried out by the ICRC for the families missing their relatives in Tajikistan. – Scars, that the families have received because of the losses are incurable, and these families face with the harsh life issues such as inheritance, divorce, division or inheritance of property, or even the care of children. "
