DUSHANBE, March 1, 2016, Asia-Plus – Tajik Islamic University students have been warned against any contacts with extremist groups.

Radio Liberty’s Tajik Service , locally known as Ozodi , reports that a statement released by Tajik Islamic University administration on February 29, in particular, says “We have information that some students use their mobile phones to watch videos released by extremist groups, including the banned Islamic Revival Party of Tajikistan (IRPT).  This is violation of law and students sympathizing with extremists and terrorists will be expelled from the University and criminal proceedings will be instituted against them.”

We will recall that fourteen residents of Khatlon’s Yovon district have been detained for questioning after they clicked a "like" button on an Islamic extremist video that had been posted to the online Odnoklassniki social network.  The men were detained and questioned as part of an investigation into the video, which called on Tajik men to join the Islamic State (IS) militant group.  Ten of the detained men were released after an interrogation, while four remained in custody on February 22.
