DUSHANBE, July 7, 2016, Asia-Plus – It is impossible to register .tj domain names domain names for already more than three months and no one of register companies is aware of reasons for suspension of the domain name registration.

The Information Technology Center at President’s Executive Office has been a coordinating body for registration of the 2nd level domains but all applications for fro registration of domain names have been received and processed by register companies. 

Registration of domain names was reportedly suspended on April 3 following the arrest of Qadamjon Safizoda, the head of the Information Technology Center at the President’s Executive Office.

The last domain name in .tj zone was registered on April 1.  

We will recall that a 34-year-old Qadamjon Safizoda has been detained on suspicion of corruption.  He is also suspected of untargeted use of state funds.   

By president’s decree Safizoda was relieved of his post of head the Information Technology Center at President’s Executive Office on April 4.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Safizoda under the provisions of Article 259 (2) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – illegal entrepreneurship; an investigation is under way.

Deputy head of the Information Technology Center at President’s Executive Office, Nodir Mirzoyev, refrained from commenting on the situation “due to lack of time.”

Meanwhile, register companies do not have exact information about reasons for suspension of registration of domain names.

One of managers for with customers at GET.tj says they have received 50 applications for domain names over three months.  “But representatives of President’s Executive Office that Qadamjon Saifzoda was fired and registration of domain names was suspended,” he noted.

Over the first three months of this year, GET.tj alone has registered 276 domain names.  To-date, this register company has reportedly registered 7030 domain names.

Representative of another register company says registration of domain names has been suspended in connection with move of President’s Executive Office to another building.

According to another register company, registration of domain names is expected to be handed over to the Communications Service communications service agency.  “The documentation issue is being resolved, and therefore, registration of domain names has been suspended.”

.tj is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Tajikistan. To-date, nearly 7,600 domain names have been registered in .tj zone.
