A manual on rehabilitation of victims of domestic violence targeting psychology students published with the support of the OSCE Office in Tajikistan was presented on September 21 at an event jointly organized with the Tajik National University.

Copies of the manual were handed over to the University’s Department of Psychology and for distribution to other university libraries in the country.

According to the OSCE Office, the manual aims to improve the understanding of students on how to provide support to survivors of domestic violence.  It explains both theoretical and practical aspects of counseling victims of domestic violence.

Viorelia Rusu, Gender and Anti-Trafficking Officer at the OSCE Office in Tajikistan said: “The students will use the manual to gain knowledge on dealing with domestic violence cases.”

She noted that the Tajik National University introduced a special mandatory course entitled Psychology of

Family Relationships included into the obligatory university curriculum for future psychologists and social workers.

The OSCE-supported manual was endorsed by the University’s scientific-methodological committee.
