The Government of Tajikistan has proposed amendments to the country’s law on state awards.  The amendments, in particular, stipulate that holders of the title of Hero of Tajikistan now have the right to use public transport, with the exception of taxi, free of charge.

A relevant decree on this subject was issued on December 17, 2020. 

Prior to this, the Heroes of Tajikistan had the following benefits: 100-pecent pension supplement; providing housing primarily in accordance with established norms; 50-percent discount on utility bills; annual provision of a free voucher to a sanatorium or a rest home in case of need for spa treatment; once a year free travel by rail, air or intercity transport within the republic. 

To-date, the title of “Hero of Tajikistan,” the highest Tajikistan distinction, has been awarded to six persons: Bobojon Ghafourov (December 18, 1908 – July 12, 1977), Sadriddin Ayni (April 15, 1878 - July 15, 1954), Mirzo Tursunzoda (May 2, 1911 — September 4, 1977), Shirinsho Shotemur (December 1, 1899 – October 27, 1937), Nusratullo Makhsum (July 1, 1881 – November 1, 1937) and incumbent Tajik President Emomali Rahmon (born October 5, 1952).  

Thus, today only Emomali Rahmon can take advantage of these benefits offered by the Government.
