The National Leader of the people of Turkmenistan, Mr. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, is expected to arrive in Dushanbe tomorrow, April 4.

Telegram-channel of Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali says state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan will be discussed during the visit. 

Meanwhile, an official source within the Ministry of Culture of Tajikistan says Days of Culture of Turkmenistan will open in Dushanbe on Thursday.

An official ceremony of opening of Days and a concert of Turkmen artistes are taking place at the Tajik Opera and Ballet Theater today afternoon at 4:00 pm.

An exhibition of paintings and folk crafts of Turkmenistan will take place at the National Museum of Tajikistan in Dushanbe on April 4; starting time: 10:00 am.   

On the same day, a joint concert program “Friendship Evening” of Tajik and Turkmen artistes will take place at the Kokhi Borbad State Complex in Dushanbe.   

On April 5, the event participants will present their cultural program to the audience in Danghara, the hometown of President Emomali Rahmon.  

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow (born 29 June 1957) is a Turkmen politician who is currently the chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan (Halk Maslahaty).

Halk Maslahaty is Turkmenistan's independent “representative body” exerting supreme constitutional authority.  It includes in its membership, but is not considered part of, the legislature.  Among other things, it is empowered to amend the constitution.  Its chairperson is appointed by the president and is designated the "National Leader".   

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow previously served as the 2nd President of Turkmenistan from 2006 to 2022, when he entered into a power-sharing arrangement with his son, Serdar, the current president.
