Tajik chess player Suhrob Hamdamov has claimed the gold medal at the Asian Chess Championship for Player with Disabilities, while another representative of the Tajik national chess team, Bahodour Abdulloyev, has secured silver.

An official source within the Tajikistan Chess Federation told Asia-Plus that the championship took place in Kyrgyzstan’s capital, Bishkek, from November 10 to November 18.  The competition reportedly featured athletes with visual, hearing, and musculoskeletal impairments.

International Master and multiple-time Tajikistan champion Suhrob Hamdamov scored 7 points from 9 games (5 wins, 4 draws), finishing first among 35 chess players from seven countries to earn the prestigious title of Asian Champion.

The tournament, held under the auspices of the Kyrgyz Chess Union and the Asian Chess Federation, brought together a total of 79 participants from India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Vietnam, and Uzbekistan.
